Call for Participants Weavings: Multisensory Theatres, Pragmatic Technologies and Future Readiness (WE) Workshop Residency, June 1 - 16, 2025 Primary Workshop Facilitator: Dr. Kanta Kochhar-Lindgren Weavings—a collaboration with Ala Theatre and Cultural Centre on a mixed-ability, multi-media theatre work—will connect college youth, theatre and dance artists, and educators from non-disabled and disabled communities, especially Deaf/Hard-of-hearing and Blind/VI, in Kerala with US experts on Multisensory Theaters, Pragmatic Technologies, and Future Readiness. This mixed ability workshop focuses on methods for creating accessible theatres for all. We will explore forms of multisensory acting training through theatre genres such as: “theatre in the dark,” “visual and object theatres,” “touch-image theatres,” “accessible new media sound art and sound sculptures,” and “theatre games.” We will bring together interdisciplinary theatre and arts practices, intercultural performance, accessible music, and accessible rehearsal techniques so we enhance our capacities for understanding, empathy, dialogue, and creativity. This workshop will result in the development of Weavings, a theatre work, which will be performed at 3 sites. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. No applications will be accepted after 5 PM IST on May 12. Please note that we will conducting interviews of the shortlisted candidates between May 14 - 16.
