Dear Sisters of Auroville 🩸 (tldr: I have created a NEW ✨ WhatsApp Community along with Lakshmi, called ā€œšŸŒ™Sisters of Aurovilleā˜€ļøā€ — a safe, warm digital & physical circle for women living in and around Auroville. Read group description for more details 🌺 & I’m looking for 10/11 women (artists, writers, listeners, organisers, space-holders) as a team for this community to co-moderate with us. If you’re interested write to me along with a portfolio (or a write up about yourself). ~ ~ ~ Hi, My name is Era. 🌻 In Feb 2023, I experienced something really difficult in Auroville. I felt like I had no one to turn to ~ only fleeting moments of support. Iykyk. That experience gave birth to a WhatsApp group called ā€œSisters of Aurovilleā€. I created it so the women don’t feel alone as much as I was and 77 women joined in almost immediately. Yet, I didn’t know, at that point, how to hold so many women in one space. I didn’t have a clear purpose. It was impulsive. Yet, I was excited in the beginning. I knew something beautiful was coming. So I started to post about my experience… a lot of other sisters also shared. It was magical and there were contradictory experiences. My initial excitement started to dull down. I started feeling like I couldn’t moderate it while also going through my own pain. I felt even more alone somehow & scared to be witnessed failing by so many. I left the group after couple of weeks of trying to make it work. In Aug 2023, in a moment of inspiration, I created another group of women — called Wild Women Circle. This one was intimate because we created a couple of women circles. Thanks to many other sisters who made it happen— you know who you are. This time around, I couldn’t collaborate well. I didn’t know how. So, I went inwards again wowing that I’ll never try again. But one gotta do what they gotta do, right, so I tried again in Feb, 2024. This time I was trying to just create physical gatherings and in my naĆÆvety, I thought that in itself could sustain a digital community — I was wrong. šŸ˜‘ I couldn’t yet figure out how to make a digital community self-sustaining. How to not create another ghost-town. There was no solution in sight. I decided to leave for what I’m calling — an inner & outer pilgrimage — across other hippies villages. I lived in Ubud, Koh-Phangan, & Dharamkot across 1.5 years. I studied digital communities in depth and how they organise. I was also a part of some online women communities on WhatsApp & Circle where I learnt so much about what I was perhaps missing — an incentive to interact, nuances, and also, moderation. And primarily, what makes a digital space feel safe. And so, I’m trying again. Think of šŸŒ™Sisters of Aurovilleā˜€ļø as a digital village of women — where we can show up as who we are, share our work, offerings or reflections, and keep remembering that we’re not alone in this journey ~ everything the Era in 2023 needed. And I know a lot of other women need too — a well-organised village online to unite offline. That’s why I do what I do. For Human Unity — Mother approved ;) Check out the description for details ✨ Only play, no performances 🌸If this feels like home, join us🩸 Here’s the invite link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/DuURfdSiyQQ2DeoNuqchyF?mode=wwt šŸ’« In play ā¤ļø — Era
