*International Women’s Rights Day* is observed globally on 8th March, and the *UN’s 2026 call is “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.”* In India, this day carries particular meaning: women were granted equal voting rights from the very beginning of the Republic through universal adult franchise, and they participated in the country’s first general election in 1951–52. *Auroville Language Laboratory* warmly invites you to a special Open House on *Saturday, 07 March, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM*, with speakers reflecting on the theme of International Women’s Rights Day. It will be a morning of sharing, listening, and dialogue, an opportunity to gather in community, honour women’s voices and contributions, and reflect on the ongoing journey toward equality, dignity, and participation. The morning will begin with a *brief tour of the Auroville Language Lab*, introducing visitors to the building and the work of the Auroville Language Lab. Following the tour, *Monique* will facilitate a round-table conversation on women’s right to vote, exploring its history in India and other parts of the world. Using visual posters and guiding questions, she will open a space for dialogue on women’s participation and perception in society, touching on themes such as feminism, marriage, and the historical struggles that shaped women’s political rights. Then, *Suhasini* will speak on *“Gender Parity in India”*. The profession of architecture and development will be used to understand how structural gaps actively sabotage creative, economic, and social capabilities and opportunities. We will also understand the closed loop between politics, policy, and legislation that reinforces this disparity, with the tacit support of society—both men and women. The event will also include the participation of *EcoFemme*, which will share information about its work in menstrual health awareness, sustainable menstrual products, and education. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore a small sales area featuring their products. *All are welcome!*
