Dates - 5 & 6 December 2025 Time - 7:30 PM Venue - Adishakti Laboratory for Theatre Art Research, Pondicherry Free Entry Wait to be seated brings together two feminist collectives from two continents, Sandbox Collective from Bangalore, India, and She She Pop from Berlin, Germany. This production marks She She Pop’s first artistic collaboration with Indian artists. The award-winning theatre company that has won accolades globally and is considered a tour de force in Europe and comes to India for the first time in its 35-year performance history. Synopsis Wait To Be Seated is a theatrical exploration of hospitality. The performance unfolds in a nowhere-anywhere setting - a dinner table, a red carpet, a dance floor - where two feminist collectives from diverse cultural backgrounds take the stage to find common ground in their understanding of hospitality, among other things. The motley group creates scenes and scenarios, sometimes real and sometimes farcical. They probe into the rules of hospitality and ask: Who is protected by them and why? What remains when formalities are brushed off? What happens when gender, race and colonialism take a seat at the dinner table? What is it that we can ask of each other, and can we ever say no? Collectively, they attempt to arrive at a shared understanding in which identities are not erased to avoid conflict. Instead, the group embraces diversity in its effort to create a liminal space where multiple truths can coexist and where friendships can emerge. Wait to Be Seated is the first collaboration between two feminist collectives, Sandbox Collective from Bangalore and She She Pop from Berlin. The show premieres in Bangalore in November 2025 followed by shows at Adishakti, Pondicherry. The Berlin premiere will happen in March 2026.
