International Performance at Adishakti! Age 13+ Wait To Be Seated is a theatrical exploration of hospitality. The performance unfolds in a nowhere-anywhere setting - a dinner table, a red carpet, a dance floor - where two feminist collectives from diverse cultural backgrounds take the stage to find common ground in their understanding of hospitality, among other things. The motley group creates scenes and scenarios, sometimes real and sometimes farcical. They probe into the rules of hospitality and ask: Who is protected by them and why? What remains when formalities are brushed off? What happens when gender, race and colonialism take a seat at the dinner table? What is it that we can ask of each other, and can we ever say no?
